The Annual General Meeting of Foyle Golf Club (Ladies’ Branch) will be held on Wednesday 8th February at 7.30 p.m. in the Earhart Room.
Notices of Motions should be given to the Honorary Secretary by the 18th January, 2012

FOYLE LADIES ANNUAL PRIZE PRESENTATION
 
 Foyle Ladies Club held their Christmas Party at Pitchers Restaurant where the Christmas Hampers, along with other annual trophies and prizes where presented by the Lady Captain Christine McCafferty.
The Christmas Hamper competition was won by Agnes McLaughlin with a fine score of 34 points over 16 holes in difficult wintry conditions.
Full results – 1, Agnes McLaughlin (19) 34; 2, Myra Gough (17) 31; 3, on break of tie, Sadie O’Kane (18) 30; 4, Lorna Thompson (19) 30; 5, Irene Cosgrove (34) 28; front 8, Maureen Louden (25) 18; back 8, Margaret McCarron (24) 15.
The much coveted ‘Golfer of the Year’ Trophy was presented to a delighted Alison Elkin, while the Foyle Shield was won by Irene Cosgrove.
The Silver Spoon and Silver Medal were both won by Sadie O’Kane, the Bronze Medal by Ann Fulton and the Breakthrough Brooch by Myra Gough.
Eagles were recorded during the season by Alison Elkin and Myra Gough, while the ‘Birdie Tree’ competition was won by Anne Hamilton.
The overall winner of the Summer Ringer was Margaret Killen with a fine score of 50nett. Monica Mohan won the Category 0-24 with 51nett on break of tie from Faye McGrotty. Category 25-36 was won by Sheila McLaughlin with 52nett on break of tie from Vice Captain Jennifer Rainey.  

LADIES CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY & PRESENTATION

 Meanwhile the Ladies Club will hold their Annual Christmas Party and Prize Giving in Pitchers Restaurant on Wednesday, December 7th at 7.30pm.  
                                                       
LADY CAPTAIN CHRISTINE MC CAFFERTY'S WEEKEND AWAY.
Foyle ladies travelled to the Castle Dargan, in County Sligo , on September 9th for Lady Captain, Christine McCafferty’s Weekend Away. On arrival at Castle Dargan the Ladies were delighted with the lovely suites they had been booked into but unfortunately weather conditions were not so great for the weekend with driving wind and rain on both days.
The Saturday’s competition was won by Margaret Killen, on a course which was very wet. Longest drive was Agnes McLaughlin and nearest the pin Anne Hamilton.
Despite the weather conditions the ladies had a great weekend away and thanked the Lady Captain for her lovely prizes and hospitality.


MRS CHRSTINE MC CAFFERTY'S LADY CAPTAINS DAY

Myra Gough, a stalwart of Foyle’s Ladies Branch, produced the goods on Friday 19th August, when she claimed Christine McCafferty’s Lady Captains Prize on a course in superb condition. Myra , Honorary Secretary and a Past Captain of the club, returned a fine score of 40 points, two points clear of her nearest rival, Irene Cosgrove.

A large turnout enjoyed the Lady Captain, Christine’s, hospitality on an extremely well organized and enjoyable day which culminated in the presentation of a superb array of prizes.

Full results were – Lady Captain’s Day – 1, Myra Gough (19) 40 points;  2, Irene Cosgrove (36) 38; gross, Alison Elkin, 23 gross points 3, Roberta Moore (28) 36; 4, on break of tie, Margaret McCarron (24) 33; back nine, on break of tie, Denise Callan (22) 16; front nine, on break of tie, Margaret Killen (20) 19; Past Captain, Agnes McLaughlin (19) 33; committee prize, Monica Mohan (24) 33; best 36 handicapper, Josephine Kelly 29; Visiting Lady Captain, Ann Kearney from Roe Park (15) 22 points over 11 holes, Visiting Lady, Pat Kyle (26) 24 points over 11 holes, longest drive, Margaret Killen; nearest the pin, Alison Elkin.

1, Trevor Holmes (12) 40 points; 2, Gary Cassidy (14) 40; 3, Gerry McMichael (14) 39; visitor, Noel O’Donnell (19) 42; juvenile, Gerard Harkin (13) 35.  



Congratulations to the Miele team who beat City of Derry to progress to the second round where they will play Letterkenny. The Junior Foursomes Team took two matches and is three holes up against Malone in the third round. The home leg is to be played on June 24th.


Meanwhile, Mrs Avril Gallagher invites lady members to play for her Lady President’s Rose Bowl plus her usual compliment of prizes on Saturday, June 18th. Their will be light refreshments served in Pitchers at 10.30am followed by golf at 11.30am.
Ladies Club Charity Open in Aid of Aware Defeat Depression Friday 20th May


Foyle Ladies Captain, Christine Mc Cafferty hosted the Clubs Charity Open on Friday last in Aid of her chosen Charity Aware Defeat Depression.
The day proved to be very successful with over a 100 Ladies and Gentlemen turning out to support the event which raised £2,320.00.
Deborah Mc Elhinney,took top honours returning a fine score of 39pts in difficult windy conditions, runner up was Nicky Fallon with 37pts


Twenty nine ladies from Foyle travelled to Greencastle Golf Club on Friday, May 27th  for Lady Captain, Christine McCafferty’s Bring and Win. The Lady Captain had organised a wonderful day for the ladies but unfortunately she could do nothing about the weather. Deborah McIlhinney coped with the horrendous weather conditions better than most to take the Lady Captains first prize with Ann Fulton coming in runner-up. Nearest the Pin was Anne Hamilton and the Longest Drive was Monica Mohan.
